A Week, Maybe Two

Planking in four states at once!

My introduction to travel blogs went something like this:

1. Stumble upon a travel blog.
2. Spend hours pouring through posts on said travel blog.
3. Follow multiple links to other travel blogs, opening a dangerous amount of tabs in the process and having to force close my browser more often than not.
4. Add every travel blog I found to my blog reader.
5. Wish I could be like all the travel bloggers whose words I read on a daily basis.

The truth is, I’m a *little* obsessed with travel, and not just the actual act of it. I love reading about new places and researching possible routes. I love opening a blank document and typing the first lines of a new itinerary. I love reading what others did in the places that I’m going to visit and I love telling people what I thought about them after I visit them.

As I’ve traveled more and more, my friends and family members have come to me for advice on all sorts of topics – what to do in certain destinations, how to score cheap(er) flights and hotel rooms, whether or not Airbnb is really, truly, actually safe (it is!) and as awesome as it seems, and on and on. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to start a travel blog of my very own, so here we are!

I’m hoping that the words I write here will inspire others to get out there and see as much of the world as they can, especially people who work full-time and feel like they “can’t” get away, for whatever reasons. Things like time, money, responsibilities at home – all of these things can be worked around if you really put your mind to it and get a little creative. I also want to use this space as a place to inspire and encourage myself to continue seeking out experiences that challenge me and make me a better person and citizen of the world.

Thanks to everyone for reading along, to my girls Elisabeth, Leesa, and Marisa for being my “cheerleaders” as I got this blog started, to Amanda for proofreading everything for me like a total boss, and to everyone who has ever asked me for travel advice or told me, “Hey, you should write about traveling!” This blog is for you as much as it is for me and I’m really excited to share it with you all!
