A Week, Maybe Two

Just Checking In!

Hey, folks. I know it’s been a little quiet here this past week, which is not great when you’re just starting a new blog and all, but work has been keeping me so busy lately that I’ve barely been home. We just completed a five-show run of our production of The Sound of Music at my school, which I music directed. So, the past two weeks have been full of rehearsals and shows and 12-14 hour workdays. It was exhausting, but in the very best way. Our kids absolutely blew everyone away with their performances and our pit sounded great. And while I am happy to have some time back to myself again, I already miss everything about it so much.

Before our opening night show!

After we completed our closing show on Sunday, we immediately launched into strike. Four hours later, it looks as if we had never been in the auditorium and our show was officially a memory. I came home, somehow mustered up the energy to take care of a few household chores and light cleaning, and then opened a bottle of wine.

This week is all about getting back into a somewhat normal routine, taking care of some medical appointments, and getting ready for my trip to Tuscany next week. My friend Nikki and I are flying to Milan next Monday (the 21st) and I finally started doing some research on the area last night. I’ve got a packing list started and a “to do” list that just keeps growing (and growing).

I’m hoping to get a post or two written this weekend that I can schedule to go live while I’m away and my friend Ali is going to write a guest post about the trip she just took to Hawaii. (I’m really looking forward to sharing that with you guys and reading it myself, since I still haven’t been to Hawaii!) I’ll be back from Italy on the 28th and will only be home for about two days before heading to Hershey, PA for the PMEA Conference. I’m hoping to get up a new post (about Italy!) in between those two trips, but we’ll see how that goes.

*In the meantime, I’d like to open this post up to suggestions from anyone out there reading. What sort of posts would you like to see in the future as I work on filling out more of the sections and writing more posts here? And does anyone have any exciting travel plans coming up?

I’m so enjoying this blog! I especially appreciated your packing tips and I’ve also liked the roundups of things you’ve read around the internet world! I am very excited to read about your upcoming trip to Italy because although I’ve been to Europe three times and am part Italian by heritage, I haven’t been! It’s on my bucket list for sure!

Good and bad experiences when you have used Airbnb and Home Away.

I’ve never used Home Away, but I have used VRBO and I use Airbnb more often now. I actually have a post started about the various places where I’ve stayed through Airbnb – all positive experiences so far, thank goodness!

Loving the blog Sara – Can’t wait to hear what you think of Italy. Jim and I spent a month there for our honeymoon and loved it!

Oh, a whole month? That must have been wonderful! Where did you go while you were there?
